February 16, 2009
Animator Tyson Ibele created this magnificent and haunting CGI animation for a recent CGSociety animation challenge. The animation, titled “Hemlock”, was created for the “Steampunk – Myths and Legends” challenge.
The horrific art of Olivier de Sagazan
February 6, 2009
Was trawling through all the backed-up feeds in Google Reader, when I came across this post over at PDXOcculture. It is a video depicting the bizarre and wondrous performance art of an Olivier de Sagazan. From what I can gather, it is a piece entitled (or part of a piece entitled) “When the face loses its face”.
Olivier is a multimedia artist, and his site features many interesting and splendidly horrific sculptures and paintings. Would love to see one of his performances sometime.
Amazing cybernetic and machine/animal hybrid sculptures
January 20, 2009
Jeshio shared these amazing sculptures by artist Lisa Black. The New Zealand artist created a series of sculptures called “Fixed” where she mixes taxidermy with clockwork and synthetic parts. There is some brilliant work here, like this ferret and this turtle.

Cute Star Wars ABC
January 6, 2009
Artist Michael Fleming of tweedlebop illustrated a super-cute Star Wars alphabet set. Greatest part about it is that it uses the Aurebesh language rather than English to teach kids how to spell “Bantha” or “IG-88“.

Extreme Hardcore Bingo
December 10, 2008
Just discovered these amazing videos from SCADshorts, short films from students at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I especially love Senior Citizens Aggressively Dancing (original). Dark hardcore music and senior citizens going berserk at BINGO.
All the videos I were able to find were delightful! Mostly dark humor mixed with absurdity and a dash of beauty. I especially enjoyed the dilemma of a cannibalistic witch, the painful visualization of love, southern-belles on extreme wheels, Gondryesque taxi-cab love, ineffectual swamp-monster vs. hunting redneck, and the foibles of a driven exercise instructor.
Andy Gilmore

I’ve been checking out some of Andy Gilmore’s work today after seeing some images on dog’S faint (some NSFW). Wonderful and colorful experiments with lines – very fractal at times.
Also, check out his Etsy shop.
Absence of Thoughts (and updates!)
May 6, 2008
So…yeah. I don’t really know what to say but sorry.
Sorry I haven’t updated or written anything in a while. I’ve been going through a lot of issues in my personal life. A lot of unexpected transitions. But it’s good. I’m beginning to focus on what I want and what I can do.
So be assured – there will be tons more updates soon and activity will return! Until then, one of the things that has my attention are some graphics projects for local artists. The first one I’m working on is a t-shirt design for a brilliant local hip-hop artist: Deficit
Here is the design in the initial stages:
So – yeah. As you can see…time well spent. Be back soon.
Portland Street Art
March 23, 2008
As a prelude to theposts that will be up soon of our group trip to Portland, Oregon – here are some snapshots I took of some outstanding urban art in the area.
There are more pics that will be uploaded over the next few weeks to the PinkonBrown photostream.
Fanciful Photos of Jennifer Zwick
January 31, 2008
I love these striking narrative photos done by Jennifer Zwick. Absolutely delightful! I think my favorite one is called “The Dream”.
